Katie Copeland Holly, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, passionately educates others about mental health and wellness topics. Through her private practice, Wellness Talk Today, she provides clinical services and professional development trainings that focus on using skill-building and wellness practices that help people to live healthier, more fulfilled lives.
She began this journey as an educator, preparing incarcerated adults to re-enter the community through an intensive 8-week In-Custody Drug Treatment Program (ICDTP). This program encompassed a wide range of topics shown to reduce recidivism, which included both life skills and relapse prevention strategies. Katie contributed to this program as a teacher and played a key role in revising the curriculum that is currently being used in parolee education programs throughout the state.
In addition to Katie’s work with the inmate population, she has also provided clinical services to adults who have committed violent felonies due to mental illness and have been subsequently placed in state psychiatric hospitals. Katie’s work with the forensic population has sensitized her to the importance of providing preventative education and mental health services to teenagers and adults who may be considered at-risk, based on background or behavioral indicators. She uses a strength-based approach to help these individuals transcend their limiting beliefs about themselves.
Katie delivers her trainings and clinical services with enthusiasm and compassion. Her approach to this work honors cultural distinctions and trauma-related needs, while also recognizing the uniqueness of every person she meets. She is highly motivated to continue serving others by raising awareness about the practices that foster wellness in individuals, organizations and communities.
