Individual Therapy

Therapy is a journey.  Your unique personality and circumstances will determine how we work together to pursue the goals that fit your needs. As your therapist, my initial focus will be for us to create a partnership that feels safe and comfortable. I have a warm and disarming communication style, and often utilize humor and recipe/Netflix recommendations as a way to bring levity to our sessions. My office offers a soothing combination of ocean-inspired images and a comfy couch on which to relax. I want our sessions to feel like a sanctuary space where you can truly relax, open up and bravely explore the parts of your life that are and aren’t working for you.

My areas of specialization include:

  • Life transitions
  • Relationship Challenges
  • Addiction/Recovery Issues
  • Relationship Challenges
  • Grief Loss
  • Professional/Creative challenges
  • Trauma Processing
  • Self-esteem Issues
  • Creating/Reinventing Personal Identity
  • Compassion Fatigue
  • Parenting Stress
  • Codependency

The next step in facilitating your journey is to help you understand and address the puzzling situations that likely brought you to therapy to begin with. My role will be to become the friendly detective. I will be asking LOTS of questions to get to know you  to get a sense of how you think and feel, to see where you’ve felt stuck, to learn about your relationships, your patterns, your dreams and your fears. Your answers will guide us like a compass, pointing us in the directions that require deeper understanding or new practices.  As an outside observer (with years of clinical experience), I’m often able to point things out that are hidden in the “blind spots.” I will be listening in a way that will not just allow you to feel heard, but also help you to feel seen. This will enable you to see yourself and your life with greater clarity.

Once there is a clear understanding of the circumstances that have brought you to therapy, my ultimate mission is to empower you with important ideas and tools to help you transcend pre-existing challenges. This leads to the core of my role, which is to be both a trusted advisor as well as your personal cheerleader (minus the dancing and pompoms). I want to be your safe person to check-in with, to identify solutions and trouble-shoot with, and to ensure that you are making the progress that you need in order to experience the well-being that you deserve.
